Course Description - This course is a studio introduction to a variety of media and approaches to painting. It is intended to develop artistic and observation skills. Students will develop a better understanding of painting techniques as they apply to a range of media while learning basic vocabulary.
Course Objectives -
- To expose students to various media and techniques in order to give them a working knowledge and technical skills in painting media.
- To expose the students to man's visual art heritage.
- To foster personal satisfaction for each student through individual accomplishments which can enrich and deepen their everyday life.
Grading - Art Projects: (100 pts. each)
Tests: Midterm and Final Exams
Participation- 4 points per day based on work ethic, expectations and attendance.
- A P/F option exists for students concerned about how art class will affect their GPA. Students choosing this grading method must discuss with the teacher by mid term and are still expected to reach as high of a level as possible on all assignments. Certain limitations apply.
Attendance – Attendance is very important to the success of this class!
*Full participation points will be deducted for every unexcused absence. No make up will be allowed for unexcused absences.
*Students with excused absences may use art insurance points or extra work completed in class to make up participation points lost for these absences.
*Tardiness will also reduce participation points equivilant to how late students are. 15 minutes or more late to class is considered an unexcused absence.
